
Data Science Manager – Application Fraud

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Oversee a team of highly proficient data scientists, starting with 2-3 members and expanding to 5-6.
• Serve as a technical mentor, capable of providing in-depth guidance and direction.
• Lead the planning, resource allocation, and communication efforts with senior leadership, product, and engineering teams.
• Cultivate a strong business intuition to steer your team in delivering effective data science solutions within tight deadlines.
• Develop and sustain SentiLink’s fraud detection models throughout the entire model development lifecycle, from data acquisition decisions to featurization, prioritizing labeling resources, model training, experimentation, production implementation, and monitoring.
• Investigate new fraud types and create innovative SentiLink products centered around identity verification.
• Attain success by conducting research and development through iterative processes, integration of new data sources, and creative feature engineering.
• Produce production-ready code that can be trusted for real-time decision-making by our partners.
• Design, conduct, and present analyses that will shape data acquisition, product development, risk operations priorities, marketing, and sales initiatives.
• 10+ years of relevant work experience with a pertinent Master’s degree or 7+ years with a relevant PhD.
• 2-5 years of experience in directly managing a team of data scientists, preferably in a startup setting.
• 3+ years of experience in a startup environment.
• Exceptional communication skills and a collaborative team player.
• Proven ability to address complex and high-profile business challenges using data science and machine learning solutions.
• Experience in conveying outcomes and progress to senior management and stakeholders.
• Strong expertise in comprehensive data science development: Planning, defining success criteria/metrics, securing buy-in, developing and delivering solutions (production, presentations, strategy documentation, etc.).
• Solid practical knowledge of machine learning and statistics, capable of efficiently utilizing standard ML/stat tools to quickly outline solutions and delve deeper as necessary. Familiarity with state-of-the-art ML solutions is an advantage.
• A keen interest in developing deep domain knowledge for product-focused tasks; a background in fraud is not mandatory, but a willingness to learn is essential.
• Experience in writing production code and tests.
• Detail-oriented and thoughtful—someone we can count on to make impactful business decisions.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, characterized by the need to tackle a wide range of high-impact, open-ended problems.
• Bonus points for familiarity with identity solutions, fintech, or related industries.
• Candidates must have the legal authorization to work in the United States and reside in the United States.
