This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Brazil.
• Lead, structure, and grow the team by selecting new talent, managing team morale, and conducting 1:1 meetings, ongoing feedback, and performance evaluations;
• Serve as a strategic partner, negotiating with stakeholders and senior leadership regarding scope, deadlines, and priorities;
• Establish the technical vision and roadmap for the data platform, ensuring alignment of architecture with business goals;
• Collaborate with Product Managers to prioritize the backlog, guaranteeing predictability and quality in deliveries;
• Oversee incidents and risks, coordinating war rooms and facilitating post-mortems with an emphasis on continuous improvement;
• Make decisions regarding architecture and technology stack, assessing trade-offs between cost, performance, and market solutions (build vs. buy);
• Set engineering standards, including code guidelines, design reviews, and the creation of reusable frameworks;
• Address complex technical issues and carry out critical code reviews on significant projects;
• Ensure governance and compliance, supervising LGPD (Brazilian Data Protection Law), security measures, and cost optimization (FinOps).
• Demonstrated experience in structuring and leading engineering teams, with an emphasis on career development, performance management, and team morale;
• Strategic mindset in architecture, capable of making impactful technical decisions and guiding complex migrations;
• Excellent communication and negotiation abilities, adept at translating business needs for the technical team and clearly reporting progress to senior leadership;
• Advanced skills in Python and SQL for data engineering, query optimization, and dimensional modeling;
• Practical experience with Big Data and distributed processing, particularly with Apache Spark and PySpark (including tuning, shuffles, and partitioning);
• Extensive knowledge of the Databricks ecosystem (Unity Catalog, Delta Live Tables, Workflows, and Lakehouse);
• Familiarity with workflow orchestration, preferably using Apache Airflow;
• Focus on quality and observability, ensuring the implementation of metrics monitoring, actionable alerts, and data governance;
• Understanding of FinOps for tracking and optimizing expenditures on cloud platforms.
