This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida.
• SOSi is looking for a Data Governance & Metadata Scientist to assist in fulfilling mission requirements through a structured approach aimed at developing, integrating, and sustaining a scalable, federated data ecosystem that improves interoperability, governance, and mission-focused analytics for a DoD client.
• The contractor will be responsible for establishing and maintaining metadata governance frameworks to ensure adherence to DoD data management policies and compatibility with the Data Catalog.
• The contractor will create automated processes for metadata tagging to enhance data discoverability, classification, and lineage tracking within the Common Intelligence Picture (CIP) platform.
• The contractor will implement and oversee data governance workflows, ensuring integration with OpenLineage, Unity Catalog, and GIS metadata standards.
• The contractor will prepare and submit the Metadata & Data Governance Compliance Report, which will include details on lineage tracking, classification policies, and security improvements.
• Knowledge and skills necessary to develop, implement, and maintain data governance frameworks, ensuring metadata consistency, lineage tracking, and interoperability among Data Lake, ESRI Kubernetes environments, and external data sources.
• Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in metadata management, data lineage tracking (Unity Catalog/OpenLineage), schema alignment, and governance best practices.
• Expertise in geospatial data standards, data cataloging, and compliance with DoD metadata policies is essential.
• The contractor shall recruit personnel with a Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Information Management, GIS, or a related discipline, or possess five (5) years of equivalent experience in data governance, metadata management, or geospatial data integration.
• Proven experience in implementing metadata governance frameworks for both structured and unstructured data within cloud environments is required.
• Experience in tracking data lineage and ensuring metadata synchronization across a Data Catalog, ESRI Kubernetes, and enterprise metadata repositories is essential.
• Familiarity with OpenLineage, Apache Atlas, or similar tools for managing metadata and data lineage is necessary.
• Ability to ensure compliance with DoD metadata policies and NSG tradecraft standards for geospatial datasets is required.
