Data Engineer – Semi Senior

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Chile.

📋 Description

• Migrate and organize loose code: Transform SQL queries and informal scripts generated by analysis teams into clean, structured, and automated models within Dataform.

• Build and automate "Bundles": Package the pipeline code along with its configurations for automatic deployment to production using GitLab CI/CD and Terraform, eliminating manual steps.

• Validate data hand-in-hand with the business: Collaborate directly with users who utilize the data to understand their needs, address questions, and ensure that the new tables accurately reflect the business logic.

• Accelerate development using AI (Claude/GPT): Leverage AI assistants through Prompt Engineering to optimize slow queries, quickly document code, and generate automated quality tests.

• Optimize performance in BigQuery: Implement partitioning and clustering techniques on tables to ensure that user queries are fast, efficient, and do not incur unnecessary cloud costs.

⛳️ Requirements

• Advanced SQL: For managing databases and creating complex queries.

• Dataform: (Mandatory) For migrating data processes.

• BigQuery: As a cloud database engine for storage and optimization (Partitioning & Clustering).

• Google Cloud Platform (GCP) components: Particularly managing Cloud Storage for data file storage.

• Git and GitLab CICD: Essential for version control of code and automating the deployment of Bundles.

• Prompt Engineering (Claude / GPT): Proven ability to use generative AI tools (OpenAI API/SDK or Vertex AI) to support and expedite code writing and optimization.

• Medallion Architecture: Knowledge of layered modeling patterns to structure data cleanly and organized.

• Effective Communication and Feedback: Critical for direct interaction with user areas.

• Business Understanding: Ability to comprehend internal processes and validate data alongside the business with analytical criteria.

• Collaboration and Problem Solving: To seamlessly integrate into the team and facilitate the migration of exploratory environments.
