This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Design and enhance features for the HIVERY Curate product in a secure, well-tested, and efficient manner.
• Collaborate with Product and various Engineering stakeholders to uphold a high standard of quality in a fast-paced, iterative setting.
• Address technical challenges of low to moderate scope and complexity.
• Produce code that aligns with our internal standards for style, maintainability, and best practices in data engineering within a high-scale environment, while promoting these standards through code reviews.
• Work together to identify barriers to team efficiency ("technical debt"), and propose and implement solutions.
• Represent HIVERY and its values in public communications regarding specific projects and community contributions.
• Deliver minor features and enhancements with support and guidance from senior team members.
• Participate in on-call rotation duties.
• Understanding of object-oriented design patterns, data structures, and algorithms.
• Professional or academic experience with Python or Go programming languages.
• Professional or academic experience with one or more cloud service providers (Azure, AWS, GCP) and infrastructure as code methodologies.
• Professional or academic experience with data warehousing, ELT, or similar processes.
• Professional or academic experience with big data technologies like Apache Hadoop, Spark, or Iceberg.
• Proficiency in the English language, both written and spoken, adequate for success in a remote and asynchronous work setting.
• Exceptional communication abilities, capable of engaging with both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Experience in addressing performance and optimization challenges, with a proven track record of diagnosing and preventing these issues.
• Comfort in a highly agile, intensely iterative software development process.
• A positive and solution-oriented attitude.
• Strong communication skills: Effectively reach consensus with peers and provide clear status updates.
• A tendency to promote communication, inclusivity, and visibility.
