Data Engineer Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Chile.

📋 Description

• Lead and mentor a team of data engineers, promoting best practices in coding, architecture, and data engineering standards.

• Define and drive the technical strategy for Journey Analytics data platforms, ensuring they are scalable, maintainable, and high-performing.

• Oversee the maintenance, optimization, and automation of code repositories in GitHub, ensuring development practices are of high quality and consistency.

• Guide the refactoring of legacy codebases to enhance maintainability, scalability, and reusability across various use cases.

• Drive the design and implementation of modular, reusable data components to support multiple journeys while minimizing duplication.

• Oversee the development and management of automated data pipelines in Databricks, ensuring reliability and scalability for downstream utilization.

• Establish and enforce standards for scalable data modeling to accommodate current and future analytics use cases.

• Ensure data quality, governance, performance, and reliability across all data pipelines and datasets.

• Collaborate with analytics, product, and engineering stakeholders to ensure data solutions align with business needs and priorities.

• Proactively identify risks, bottlenecks, and opportunities for improvement, driving mitigation strategies at both team and platform levels.

• Promote continuous enhancement of data processes, documentation, and engineering practices.


⛳️ Requirements

• Over 7 years of experience in Data Engineering.

• Proficient experience with GitHub repositories and version control workflows.

• Hands-on experience in developing and maintaining data pipelines within Databricks.

• Demonstrated experience in refactoring and managing legacy codebases.

• Strong understanding of data modeling and the design of reusable components.

• Experience in building scalable data models for analytics and reporting purposes.

• Strong emphasis on data quality, performance, and reliability.

• Ability to thrive in cross-functional environments and contribute to ongoing improvements.

• Capability to work independently and take ownership of initiatives after receiving high-level guidance, advancing tasks with minimal supervision.

• Experience with Genie (Databricks) is a plus.
