This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Brazil.
• Establish the team's technical priorities by converting the Head of Data Engineering's business vision into practical technical requirements;
• Mentorship and Code Review: Enhance the team's technical standards through thorough code reviews and ongoing mentoring of data engineers;
• Governance and Standards: Develop Data Quality standards, ensure pipeline observability, and document data lineage;
• Infrastructure Decisions: Spearhead the Infrastructure-as-Code approach (Terraform), guaranteeing uniform development, staging, and production environments;
• Data Culture: Foster a data-driven culture and encourage platform adoption by removing manual processes and silos;
• Technical Skills:
• - Expertise in large-scale data architecture emphasizing high performance and cost efficiency;
• - Proficient in Python and SQL;
• - Demonstrated experience leading technical data engineering teams;
• - Proven track record in managing, deploying, and maintaining data platforms (Data Warehouse, Data Lakes, and Data Lakehouses);
• - Knowledge of software engineering, including API design, design patterns, and platform maintenance;
• - Tech stack: solid to advanced understanding of Apache Iceberg, AWS (EC2, Glue, Athena, DataZone, Lake Formation), Airflow, Terraform, DBT, Prometheus, and Grafana;
• - Proficient in English (both written and spoken).
• Behavioral Skills:
• - Capacity to foresee how platform changes or new data sources might affect published data and platform architecture;
• - Ability to guide the team in making technical decisions without depending on hierarchical authority;
• - Skill in identifying technical and behavioral improvement opportunities for team members and acting in a compassionate, individualized manner;
• - Clear and objective communication abilities;
• - Autonomy and resilience;
• - Capability to convey technical concepts to a diverse range of stakeholders.

• - Experience with complex migrations from legacy data lakes or manual processes to a contemporary Lakehouse;
