Data Engineer – Contractor

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Romania.

📋 Description

• Design and maintain data pipelines for the ingestion, transformation, and export of data across various sources and destinations.

• Create and develop scalable data architectures that fulfill business and performance objectives.

• Collaborate with analysts and data scientists to provide curated, analysis-ready datasets and facilitate self-service analytics.

• Apply best practices for data quality, testing, monitoring, lineage, and reliability.

• Enhance workflows for performance, cost efficiency, and scalability (e.g., optimizing Spark jobs, query enhancement, and partitioning strategies).

• Ensure secure data management and adherence to relevant data protection regulations and internal policies.

• Contribute to the documentation, standards, and ongoing improvement of the data platform and engineering processes.

• Guarantee secure and compliant management of data and models, including access controls, auditability, and governance practices.

• Develop and maintain MLOps automation: CI/CD for machine learning, environment management, artifact handling, and version control of data/models/code.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent practical experience).

• Over 3 years of experience as a Data Engineer, focusing on building and maintaining production-grade pipelines and datasets.

• Proficient in Python and SQL with a robust understanding of data structures, performance, and optimization techniques for ETL/ELT processes.

• Practical experience with orchestration tools (such as Airflow, Dagster, Databricks Workflows) and distributed processing in a cloud environment.

• Familiarity with at least one major cloud provider (GCP, AWS, Azure) and experience in deploying data solutions within the cloud.

• Strong troubleshooting skills: capability to debug issues across data, infrastructure, pipelines, and deployments.

• A collaborative approach and effective communication skills with engineering, analytics, and business stakeholders.
