This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Mexico.
• Design, configure, and maintain AI agent workflows utilizing Cursor and Claude Code, which includes structured markdown-based instruction files, slash commands, and agent workflows that automatically implement your architecture.
• Research and assess new methods for agent orchestration, pinpointing opportunities to enhance the speed, reliability, or scalability of the current system.
• Continuously evaluate existing processes and suggest improvements; this is an expected practice, not an exceptional one.
• Critically guide and review AI-generated code; you serve as the architect while the agents act as executors.
• Construct and sustain a RAW → Base → Data Marts pipeline using dbt Core, applying business logic at the transformation layer.
• Take ownership of data pipelines from start to finish, encompassing API ingestion, incremental strategy, transformation, and quality assurance, with complete accountability for architectural decisions.
• Write and maintain tests and documentation at every stage of the pipeline.
• Connect to and extract data from marketing and e-commerce APIs, including Meta, TikTok, Shopify, and Klaviyo.
• Develop comprehensive test suites using Great Expectations or similar tools.
• Implement business logic validation checks and automated quality monitoring throughout the pipeline.
• Manually review data at the table level, rather than solely relying on automated scripts, before drawing any conclusions.
• Verify your own work as a standard practice, not merely a requested step.
• Execute complex business logic and data validation using Python.
• Create ETL scripts, automation workflows, and API integration scripts.
• Write scalable code designed to address long-term solutions, not just immediate problems.
• Expert-level, hands-on experience with Cursor and/or Claude Code, specifically utilized in a terminal for building and architecting data systems (non-negotiable).
• Over 3 years of experience in data engineering, with a proven track record of managing pipelines from start to finish.
• Proficient in Python for data processing, API integrations, and implementing business logic.
• Experience in building and maintaining dbt transformations in a production setting.
• Proven capability to work independently in a remote environment; you set your own timelines, deliver results, and take ownership of outcomes.
• A direct and specific communication style; you proactively push back when needed and identify problems early.
• Availability in US time zones (CT or ET).
• Flexible work arrangements
• Remote work options
