This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Spain.

📋 Description

• In the role of Data Engineer, you will connect intricate biological science with effective software engineering.

• Your primary responsibility will be to establish the scalable infrastructure that supports our scientific advancements.

• You will ensure that our data pipelines are not only efficient but also fully compliant with European data protection laws.

• Lead the execution of complex features across distributed architectures, ensuring that systems are efficient, maintainable, and secure.

• Design software that incorporates resilience and observability while balancing immediate product delivery with long-term sustainability of the platform.

• Translate intricate scientific requirements into actionable engineering tasks for the development team.

• Collaborate with Product, Science, and DevOps teams to outline milestones and ensure that projects progress from conception to production with measurable outcomes.

• Lead root cause analysis (RCA) for live incidents and implement enduring structural solutions.


⛳️ Requirements

• Education: MSc in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or a closely related advanced technical discipline.

• Experience: Over 5 years in software engineering or the development of computational systems, ideally within data-intensive or regulated industries.

• Strong programming capabilities (Python, Go, Java, or similar) along with familiarity with microservice or distributed system architectures.

• Demonstrated experience in designing and sustaining production-grade systems (preferably in data-intensive or regulated settings).

• Practical experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP), CI/CD pipelines, and container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).

• A solid understanding of data privacy, observability, and security principles.

• A pragmatic mindset for troubleshooting complex systems and making decisions under uncertainty.
