This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.
• As a Data Engineer, you will take charge of the design, development, and operation of our enterprise data platform.
• Ensure the integration, governance, and AI-readiness of data, establishing a foundation for all intelligent applications and insights within the organization.
• Design and manage the enterprise data platform: Create a scalable Microsoft Fabric data infrastructure utilizing a medallion lakehouse architecture (Bronze, Silver, or Gold) with Delta Lake.
• Develop and maintain data pipelines: Build resilient batch and streaming ETL/ELT pipelines featuring schema evolution, automated transformation, and robust data quality validation.
• Integrate enterprise systems: Connect to data sources such as SharePoint, Salesforce, Microsoft 365, Azure SQL, ERP/CRM systems, file repositories, and REST APIs.
• Ensure optimal performance and reliability: Optimize storage and processing for both structured and unstructured data, including monitoring, alerting, and ensuring operational stability.
• Construct semantic data layers and governance: Create a taxonomy and metadata standards, along with semantic models, data cataloging, and lineage tracking.
• Implement access control, compliance, and security measures.
• Promote AI readiness: Prepare data for AI use cases through document chunking, embedding pipelines, and vector-ready datasets for RAG.
• Provide knowledge services and collaborate: Develop reusable APIs and data services for AI applications while working cross-functionally with AI, analytics, and business teams (#OneTeam).
• 7+ years of experience in data engineering, including 3+ years in building enterprise-scale cloud platforms, with a track record in greenfield architecture and AI/ML data preparation.
• Proficient in Python and SQL, with hands-on experience in Spark, Microsoft Fabric, the Azure Data Platform, and Delta Lake.
• Experienced in integrating enterprise systems (e.g., Salesforce, SharePoint, M365, Azure SQL/Data Lake) and working with REST APIs and modern data architectures.
• Strong understanding of metadata management, master data management, and semantic modeling.
• Relevant certifications in Azure/Fabric and experience with Purview, Synapse, Data Mesh, graph/vector databases, Azure AI Search, or event streaming.

• Excellent English communication skills are essential.
