This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Kenya.
• Assist in the execution, configuration, and upkeep of data pipelines and transformation workflows.
• Create and sustain ELT data pipelines utilizing Databricks Workflows and Azure Data Factory.
• Facilitate the ingestion of data from critical systems into Lakehouse.
• Oversee pipeline operations, detect failures, and resolve issues.
• Design and uphold dbt models across staging, intermediate, and mart layers.
• Utilize SQL techniques such as joins, CTEs, window functions, and aggregations to cater to reporting and analytics requirements.
• Develop and manage Databricks notebooks and jobs for data transformation tasks.
• 3–6 years of practical experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, or a similar technical position.
• Proven experience in constructing or maintaining data pipelines in a professional environment.
• Familiarity with cloud-based data platforms, ideally Azure (Databricks, Data Factory, or Synapse).
• Working knowledge of dbt model development, including staging and mart layers.
• Understanding of dbt tests, documentation, and source configurations.
• Willingness to enhance dbt skills, particularly in incremental models and CI/CD integration.
• Practical experience with Databricks notebooks and basic job/workflow configuration.
• Knowledge of Delta Lake concepts and Databricks SQL.
• Strong SQL skills: joins, CTEs, window functions, aggregations, and a basic awareness of performance.
• Basic to intermediate proficiency in Python for data processing, scripting, and automation.
• Comprehension of star/snowflake schemas and concepts related to fact & dimension tables.
