This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• We are seeking a Staff Data Engineer to become part of a diverse engineering team focused on developing modern, enterprise-level data platforms.
• In this position, you will design scalable data lakes, warehouses, and pipelines, establish governance and quality standards, and spearhead the modernization of data platforms across real, ongoing projects where performance, reliability, and security are paramount.
• You will provide mentorship to junior engineers, collaborate with leadership on data strategy, and adopt an AI-centric approach.
• Define data architecture and platform strategy, leading the design efforts across pipelines, warehouses, and data lakes.
• Construct and enhance scalable data pipelines that accommodate both batch and real-time processing.
• Establish and enforce data governance, quality standards, and compliance frameworks throughout the platform.
• Develop monitoring, logging, and alerting mechanisms for data pipelines and services, and contribute to CI/CD workflows for data deployment and automation.
• Propel data platform modernization, focusing on performance, cost efficiency, and scalability.
• Design and execute data contracts and event flows in partnership with backend, platform, and engineering teams.
• Lead the design and execution of data pipelines for production AI/ML systems, including embeddings, vector stores, RAG data preparation, feature stores, and training/inference data flows.
• Integrate data services with APIs, middleware, and third-party systems to facilitate end-to-end data consumption.
• Over 7 years of professional experience in data engineering, with a track record of leading complex data platform projects.
• Strong background in system architecture, with a focus on distributed data systems.
• Expert-level proficiency in Python, Scala, and SQL.
• Extensive knowledge of cloud-native data platforms and enterprise data warehousing.
• Strong expertise in orchestrating and processing data pipelines.
• Significant experience with streaming platforms and real-time data processing (e.g., Kafka, Kinesis, Pub/Sub).
• Strong data modeling skills and experience in data transformation.
• Proven experience with data quality, governance, and compliance frameworks.
• Strong experience in container orchestration and CI/CD practices for data systems.
• Extensive experience in building data pipelines for production AI/ML systems, including embeddings, vector stores, RAG data preparation, feature stores, and training/inference data flows.
• Demonstrated leadership and technical mentorship experience within a team or organization.
• Excellent communication skills with stakeholders, capable of conveying technical concepts across diverse audiences.
• Proven daily usage and advanced knowledge of AI-centric coding tools such as Claude and Cursor.
• Outstanding problem-solving abilities and the capability to tackle highly ambiguous technical and business challenges with sound judgment.
• Experience with data mesh or data fabric concepts, lakehouse architectures, or governance framework implementation is a plus.
