AI-First Data Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

📋 Description

• Develop and enhance cloud-native data pipelines on AWS, focusing on ETL/ELT and the underlying infrastructure (Aurora, Redshift, dbt, Spark/EMR, Airflow, CDC) while integrating AI tools as a fundamental component of the process.

• Create and refine the data models that drive analytics, operational applications, and AI/ML across thousands of studios.

• Improve data reliability by embedding governance, testing, and lineage, ensuring that both people and AI systems can inherently trust the data.

• Collaborate with product and other engineering teams to transform vague business challenges into effective data solutions.

• Assess and innovate new methodologies with us, including data mesh patterns and emerging AI tools, and contribute to the decision-making process regarding their integration into our stack.

• Engage in our financial and regulatory reporting workstream (Finion Capital), where accuracy and auditability are paramount.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 3 years in data engineering, with a specialization in data warehousing, and a desire to take on greater responsibilities than previously held.

• Proficiency in SQL and Python for data-related tasks.

• Familiarity with AI tools is second nature to you, along with the discernment to assess and validate their outputs. You consider AI results as drafts to verify rather than unquestionable answers, particularly in areas where accuracy is critical.

• A strong understanding of data architecture and modeling concepts (dimensional modeling, slowly-changing dimensions, incremental patterns) or a strong motivation to quickly enhance this knowledge.

• Practical experience with dbt in a cloud data warehouse environment, as this will be your primary focus.

• Basic knowledge of relational databases and some exposure to non-relational databases (DynamoDB, MongoDB).

• A proven history of troubleshooting complex data issues and delivering sustainable solutions.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English.
