Data Engineer – AI/ML

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• You will be responsible for performance optimization on the StarRocks serving layer, utilizing AI-enhanced query profiling (Claude, internal tools) to identify and resolve slow query patterns before they escalate into customer-facing issues.

• You will develop and strengthen data pipelines that support government cloud investigations, implementing AI code review processes to deliver dependable updates swiftly in a highly regulated environment where errors can be detrimental.

• You will mitigate single points of failure within the GovCloud data infrastructure by becoming the second engineer capable of independently managing and troubleshooting the serving layer, thereby reducing incident response times when the primary owner is unavailable.

• You will leverage AI-driven debugging and log analysis to address production challenges in a regulated setting, transforming multi-hour investigations into quick root-cause resolutions.

⛳️ Requirements

• U.S. citizenship is mandatory for this position due to the requirements for accessing government cloud data.

• Practical experience in managing distributed OLAP or serving-layer systems (such as StarRocks, Trino, ClickHouse, or similar), including query tuning and performance enhancement on a large scale.

• Proven track record in ensuring data pipeline reliability and incident response, along with proficiency in utilizing AI tools (like Claude, Cursor, or similar) to expedite debugging, code review, and documentation processes.

• An independent ownership approach: you can quickly familiarize yourself with an unfamiliar aspect of production infrastructure, using AI-assisted research and code exploration to learn efficiently, and assume on-call responsibilities with minimal supervision.
