Data Architect, S/4HANA Transition

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +4 more states.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the enterprise data architecture for the transition from ECC to S/4HANA, establishing principles, reference architectures, and guidelines for various data domains (Finance, Supply Chain, Order-to-Cash, Procure-to-Pay, etc.)

• Develop a reporting strategy that integrates ECC and S/4HANA datasets to ensure consistent KPI definitions and cross-system analytics (such as consolidated financials, inventory, order fulfillment), incorporating semantic layers and data virtualization/replication as needed.

• Construct canonical and system-specific data models (conceptual, logical, physical) and define golden sources, conformed dimensions, data standards, and naming/versioning conventions.

• Specify integration patterns (e.g., SLT/ODP/CDC, APIs, files, events) between SAP and the analytical stack, optimizing for latency, cost, reliability, and data quality.

• Facilitate analytics and planning within SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) by curating models, measures, and calculations; designing security and data access patterns; and guiding dashboard/story design standards.

• Supervise ETL/ELT pipelines utilizing SAP BusinessObjects Data Services (BODS) and contemporary orchestration patterns; outline error handling, data lineage, and observability protocols.

• Produce and update architecture artifacts (capability maps, value streams, domain models, roadmaps, standards) in alignment with TOGAF ADM phases A–D, ensuring effective communication with both technical and business stakeholders.

• Mentor delivery teams and conduct architectural reviews to guarantee that solutions align with strategy while achieving immediate milestones throughout the phased migration.

⛳️ Requirements

• Generally requires a University Degree or equivalent experience along with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field with at least 7 years of experience.

• Proficiency with the SAP ECC data model (core modules and common customizations/extensions).

• Knowledge of the SAP S/4HANA data model, including CDS views, embedded analytics concepts, and the distinctions from ECC.

• Background in data architecture/engineering with comprehensive ownership of enterprise data platforms.

• U.S. citizenship is necessary, as only U.S. citizens are permitted to access information under this program/contract.

• Familiarity with Snowflake (data modeling for analytics, performance optimization, governance, cost management).

• Experience with SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) (modeling, security, stories, planning) and SAP BusinessObjects Data Services (BODS) for ETL/ELT processes.

• Competence in SAP Business Data Cloud / SAP Datasphere for semantic modeling, data federation/replication, and governance.

• Knowledge in designing bridge/transition architectures that facilitate multi-system reporting during significant transformations.

• TOGAF-certified; skilled in applying the TOGAF framework for building and conveying architecture to business and technical stakeholders.

• Experience with formal architecture modeling (UML, BPMN, SysML, ArchiMate).

• Executive presence and exceptional communication skills; adept at leading change across extensive initiatives and organizations.

• Ability to thoroughly understand how the business generates value and translate that into data architectures and roadmaps.

• Experience throughout the entire IT lifecycle (planning, design, deployment, operations) and with cross-functional delivery teams.

• Strong foundation in data modeling, data warehousing, and data integration techniques.

• Previous roles as a BI analyst, data scientist, software developer, or system administrator.

• Proven capability to use abstraction and simplification to effectively communicate complex systems to various audiences.

• Strong influencing and relationship-building skills to cultivate and maintain crucial partnerships.
