Data Architect, Databricks, Azure

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

📋 Description

• Responsible for establishing the architectural foundation for a comprehensive data transformation within the German enterprise landscape.

• Designing the decentralized data landscape and directing the technological orientation.

• Providing professional guidance, mentoring, and technological leadership to the assigned engineering team.

• Defining the strategy for migrating data streams from traditional legacy structures to a modern platform environment.

• Establishing best practices regarding data quality, standardization, and governance within the new architecture.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive, long-term practical and project experience in data architecture or as a Senior/Lead Data Engineer in complex enterprise environments.

• Solid experience in the design and conception of modern decentralized data architectures (particularly Data Mesh / Lakehouse).

• Strong communication skills to convey complex concepts clearly, set quality standards, and inspire developers technically.

• Ideally (preferred): Experience with Databricks on Azure.

• Ideally (preferred): Experience in the area of data governance / data cataloging (e.g., Collibra).

• Ideally (preferred): Familiarity with traditional enterprise data warehouse structures (preferably SAP BW) to effectively support migration processes.

• Fluent/negotiation-level proficiency in German and English, both written and spoken.
