This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Define and spearhead the enterprise data architecture for Cordance Commerce.
• Take ownership of the target-state data architecture and roadmap for a cohesive reporting and analytics platform.
• Evaluate transactional databases, data pipelines, reporting tools, BI reports, and customer-specific reports.
• Document dependencies, duplication, performance risks, and constraints related to migration.
• Establish shared enterprise data models, canonical business definitions, master-data strategy, and ownership of system-of-records.
• Design the separation of transactional and analytical workloads utilizing cloud data warehouse or lakehouse patterns.
• Assess platforms such as Snowflake and recommend solutions based on scalability, security, cost, operability, and business requirements.
• Develop phased migration strategies across Solutions, Secure Retail, Upright, and Pearl Dive while ensuring continuity.
• Formulate standards for data ingestion, transformation, orchestration, semantic models, APIs, data quality, lineage, metadata, retention, archival, and observability.
• Collaborate with BI professionals to streamline report catalogs and facilitate reusable datasets, governed self-service analytics, and configurable reporting.
• Advise DBAs and engineering teams on database architecture, PostgreSQL and Microsoft SQL modernization, replication or change-data-capture, performance isolation, backup, recovery, and operational readiness.
• Implement governance practices for ownership, access controls, privacy, security, auditability, quality thresholds, and change management.
• Lead technical discovery, architecture reviews, proofs of concept, and vendor evaluations.
• Convert findings into designs, sequencing, estimates, risks, and investment recommendations.
• Provide hands-on technical guidance and evaluate implementation designs.
• Ensure that new product capabilities are in alignment with the target architecture to prevent data silos.
• Enable reliable enterprise dashboards and cross-product reporting to support operational, customer, financial, and executive decision-making.
• Deliver assessments of the current state, target-state architecture, migration roadmaps, shared business definitions, governed data models, quality and recovery standards, migration milestones, ownership controls, and platform cost metrics.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Data Management, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Over 8 years of experience in data engineering, database architecture, analytics engineering, or business intelligence.
• A minimum of 3 years in a data architecture or senior technical leadership position.
• Experience in designing enterprise data warehouses, lakehouses, or analytical platforms.
• Proficient in migrating data from multiple operational systems.
• Strong knowledge of conceptual, logical, and physical data modeling, including dimensional modeling and normalized transactional designs.
• Hands-on expertise with SQL, relational databases, ETL/ELT patterns, orchestration, data quality, metadata, lineage, and BI semantic models.
• Experience in separating reporting workloads from high-volume transactional systems.
• Proven track record in designing for performance, resilience, scalability, and cost management.
• Familiarity with cloud data platforms and modern data integration patterns, including APIs, replication, and change data capture.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Preferred: Practical experience with Snowflake and AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
• Preferred: Experience with PostgreSQL and Microsoft SQL, including modernization or migration projects.
• Preferred: Background in consolidating reporting platforms post-acquisitions or across a multi-product SaaS portfolio.
• Preferred: Experience in rationalizing standard and customer-specific reports and enabling governed self-service analytics.
• Preferred: Familiarity with retail, point-of-sale, inventory, e-commerce, donation, or thrift/resale data domains.
• Preferred: Knowledge of data privacy, security, role-based access, audit, retention, and compliance standards.
• Preferred: Experience enabling machine learning, generative AI, or agentic AI use cases.
• Relevant certifications in cloud, Snowflake, data management, or architecture are a plus.
• The final candidate must be able to pass a background check.
