This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Washington.
• Collaborate with clients to comprehend their business objectives, requirements, and limitations, converting them into scalable and secure data solutions.
• Direct the design and enhancement of comprehensive cloud data architectures, encompassing ingestion, storage, processing, modeling, and consumption.
• Establish data models, integration methodologies, and design standards.
• Develop and uphold data flow diagrams, architecture diagrams, logical and physical models, data lineage, and data dictionaries.
• Provide technical guidance to data engineering teams via code and design reviews, best practices, and mentorship.
• Ensure the architecture meets governance, data quality, security, and compliance requirements.
• Facilitate workshops, whiteboarding sessions, and executive presentations.
• Suggest emerging data and cloud technologies.
• Assist in proposals, offering development, business development, and deal closure.
• Lead technical pre-sales efforts, including discovery, solutioning, and estimations.
• Represent the organization in executive briefings and industry events.
• Mentor and lead data engineers, including conducting performance reviews, making staffing decisions, and planning career development.
• Assess effort and complexity while supporting project planning.
• Contribute to practice offerings, accelerators, reusable assets, and thought leadership initiatives.
• 10–15+ years of overall experience as a data architect and data engineer.
• Proven experience in leading Azure data migrations.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Lake, Azure Data Factory, and Azure SQL Database.
• Demonstrated experience in designing, implementing, and optimizing Snowflake data solutions.
• Experience delivering enterprise-grade data solutions at a top consulting firm.
• Background in supporting proposals and pre-sales activities.
• Experience managing cloud-based data and analytics environments across development, testing, and production phases.
• Extensive knowledge of relational and transactional database theory.
• Capability to assess the business and technical implications of user requirements for project planning.
• Proven experience with Agile methodologies.
• Ability to design and effectively communicate complex architecture diagrams and data solutions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience leading whiteboarding workshops for gathering requirements.
• Preferred: experience modeling utilities, wildfire, and/or geospatial data.
• Preferred: familiarity with GIS technologies, especially ArcGIS.
• Preferred: experience with Microsoft Visio and/or LucidChart.
• Preferred: undergraduate degree in a STEM field or business.
• Preferred: Microsoft or Data Platform certifications.
• Preferred: experience designing and leading large-scale cloud data migrations.
