• The Data Architect will play a pivotal role in designing, constructing, and enhancing our next-generation enterprise data platform and data integration pipeline.
• This position is crucial to our shift towards a modern, governed, cloud-based data ecosystem that serves all functions at Coverys, particularly in underwriting, claims, actuarial, finance, and enterprise analytics.
• The Data Architect will assist in defining the architectural framework, setting data modeling standards, and overseeing the creation of scalable, automated data pipelines in Snowflake.
• Beyond architecture design, this role will collaborate closely with both business and technology teams to ensure data is accurate, reliable, and accessible for advanced analytics, reporting, and operational decision-making.
• Design and maintain enterprise data architecture that aligns with various business domains, including Policy, Party, Claims, Billing, and Underwriting.
• Ensure the data architecture design is in accordance with enterprise architecture standards and work in close partnership with the Enterprise Architecture team.
• Develop canonical and semantic data models that support analytics, reporting, and operational use cases.
• Establish standards for data modeling, data quality, naming conventions, metadata, lineage, and documentation.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to convert requirements into scalable data structures.
• Create ELT/ETL pipelines utilizing modern cloud-native tools and frameworks.
• Lead the transition from legacy batch processes to automated, event-driven, or CDC-based ingestion patterns.
• Implement data quality rules, validation frameworks, and reconciliation logic.
• Optimize Snowflake workloads for improved performance, cost efficiency, and reliability.
• Design and manage medallion-style data layers (bronze/silver/gold) for data ingestion, curation, and consumption.
• Collaborate with Data Governance to create data dictionaries, lineage, classification, data quality, and stewardship models.
• Ensure consistent application of canonical identifiers across systems and domains.
• Advocate for data-as-a-product principles and guide teams towards the development of reusable, scalable data assets.
• Partner with business analysts, data scientists, actuaries, and analytics teams to fulfill data requirements.
• Mentor SQL developers and analytics engineers as they transition into modern data engineering roles.
• Coach and guide the data engineering team while leading the development of pipeline and architecture platforms.
• Provide architectural oversight for significant data initiatives across the organization.
• Adapt to evolving business needs as required.
• A Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field from an accredited institution is required.
• 3-5 years of experience in data architecture and data engineering is necessary.
• Strong expertise in data modeling across conceptual, logical, and physical domains.
• Hands-on experience in designing enterprise data architectures.
• Advanced experience in ELT/ETL development, preferably in a cloud-native environment.
• Extensive experience with cloud data warehouses, particularly Snowflake.
• Proficient in Python for data engineering and automation tasks.
• Strong SQL skills with experience in large-scale data processing.
• Familiarity with data quality frameworks, metadata management, and data lineage.
• Understanding of contemporary data patterns, including CDC, event-driven ingestion, APIs, streaming, and orchestration.
• Experience in the insurance sector is preferred.
• Snowflake certification is a plus.
• Knowledge of tools such as dbt, Airflow, Azure Data Factory, or similar technologies.
• Understanding of MDM, canonical modeling, and governance frameworks.
• Experience with Power BI or other business intelligence tools.
