This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ukraine, +1 more country.
• Assume responsibility for the current data architecture and, when necessary, reverse-engineer systems.
• Evaluate data landscapes that encompass core banking, payments, CRM, customer applications, and related services.
• Identify and map data sources, integrations, transformations, dependencies, and points of data consumption.
• Convert business and regulatory needs into scalable data architectures and technical solutions.
• Create conceptual, logical, and physical data models, along with data flows and transformation rules.
• Develop comprehensive source-to-target mappings, data contracts, interface specifications, and data quality requirements.
• Recognize architectural gaps, technical debt, and risks, proposing appropriate remediation strategies.
• Assist with data requirements pertaining to KYC, AML, transaction reporting, and other regulatory processes.
• Play a role in establishing data governance, security, lineage, ownership, and data quality standards.
• Review implementations and convey technical decisions, dependencies, and trade-offs to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Engage in an active greenfield UK banking platform project built on Thought Machine Vault, utilizing Snowflake as the analytical data platform.
• Collaborate closely with architects, engineers, product owners, and business stakeholders.
• Extensive experience as a Data Architect, Solution Architect, or Lead Data Engineer, with practical expertise in data architecture.
• Proficient hands-on experience with Snowflake, SQL, relational databases, and data modeling.
• Familiarity with data warehouses/lakes and ETL/ELT processes.
• Experience in reverse-engineering existing systems that have limited documentation.
• Capability to translate business requirements into technical specifications that are ready for implementation.
• Strong grasp of data integrations, pipelines, transformation patterns, and analytical data platforms.
• Ability to work autonomously, take charge, and organize an already-running program.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
• Upper-Intermediate (B2) English proficiency or higher.
• Willingness to travel for business purposes to Poland and the UK as required.
• Nice-to-have: experience in banking, fintech, payments, or other financial services.
• Nice-to-have: familiarity with UK banking and regulatory standards such as FCA/PRA, KYC, or AML.
• Nice-to-have: experience with Thought Machine Vault, ClearBank, or similar core banking/BaaS platforms.
• Nice-to-have: experience with AWS, dbt, Airflow, or similar data transformation/orchestration technologies.
• Nice-to-have: knowledge of data governance, lineage, cataloguing, event-driven architectures, APIs, streaming platforms, and CI/CD practices.
