Data Analyst

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Take charge of the entire Lending analytics domain — encompassing acquisition and application funnels through to approval, funding, repayment, retention, and support — by establishing a reporting foundation that enables leaders to understand the product's users, their usage patterns, and areas of performance enhancement or decline.

• Integrate marketing, product, risk, operations, and financial data into a cohesive view of customer and business performance, ensuring that insights represent the complete picture rather than fragmented metrics.

• Create, develop, and sustain semantic data models in Snowflake that convert intricate business logic into scalable, reusable structures, facilitating consistent self-service reporting across various teams.

• Develop dashboards and analytical views that highlight trends, friction points, and potential opportunities proactively — identifying issues in the funnel, product experience, or operational procedures before they escalate into larger concerns.

• Collaborate with Finance, Product, Risk, and Operations to gain a thorough understanding of KPIs, business processes, and reporting requirements; ensure that data definitions and metrics are standardized and trusted across teams.

• Provide support for Wealth analytics as a secondary focus, ensuring that reporting methodologies remain consistent throughout Orion's extensive financial platform.

• Proactively utilize AI tools (such as Claude, Copilot, Cursor, or similar) to expedite analysis, automate repetitive tasks, and enhance the quality and speed of your outputs.

• Develop and maintain SQL to facilitate reporting, analytics, and operational decision-making.

• Contribute to data modernization efforts, including the redesign of existing reporting pipelines.

• Partner with Data Engineering and Architecture to ensure that analytical datasets are dependable, scalable, and well-governed.

• Implement best practices for testing, monitoring, documentation, and data quality.

• Assist in integrating analytical assets into Mogo’s broader data platform.

• Share expertise and help enhance analytical capabilities within the team.

• Progress into more senior roles over time, including taking ownership of more complex modeling and AI-powered analytics projects.

⛳️ Requirements

• 3–5 years of experience in Business Intelligence, Data Analytics, Analytics Engineering, or a related domain.

• Proficient SQL skills with a background in designing analytical data models.

• Strong instincts in product analytics — comfortable performing funnel analysis, segmentation, cohort analysis, and customer behavior analysis.

• Ability to link user-level behaviors to business outcomes such as conversion, funding, repayment, retention, revenue, and operational efficiency.

• Familiarity with Snowflake, Looker, or similar contemporary analytics platforms.

• Comprehensive understanding of dimensional modeling, KPI design, and reporting best practices.

• Strong discernment regarding data reliability — capable of determining when a metric is ready for use and when it is not.

• Comfort in working with imperfect or evolving data and in creating clarity from ambiguity.

• Excellent communication skills — able to clearly convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

• Proficient in managing multiple priorities and collaborating directly with business stakeholders.

• A genuine curiosity about AI tools and a proactive approach in using them to enhance personal productivity and output quality.
