This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Maryland.
• Monitor and assess security alerts and incidents from a variety of security tools and systems.
• Collaborate across multiple communication channels with users and administrators from diverse roles and backgrounds during incident investigations and responses.
• Gather and evaluate raw events and alerts.
• Develop timelines related to adversarial activities or those pertinent to the ongoing investigation.
• Offer insights on received alerts and reviewed events to enhance detection capabilities.
• Escalate tickets as necessary following established procedures.
• Classify and prioritize incidents according to set criteria.
• Consistently deliver high-quality customer service.
• Diligently and accurately document work details in the ticketing system.
• Maintain knowledge of current products in use and quickly learn related technologies.
• Stay updated on breaking news and industry best practices from reliable sources and share insights.
• Participate in and contribute to regular team meetings.
• Ability to work any schedule in a 24/7 Security Operations Center (SOC) environment.
• Bachelor's degree in a related field or a combination of education and work experience.
• Must obtain and maintain at least one of the following certifications within one year (other intermediate certifications may be considered): Sec+, CySA+.
• Prior completion of a related internship or relevant class projects that introduce the applicant to the SOC environment.
• Minimum entry-level experience in incident investigations and responses.
• Proven experience in the security industry, including an understanding of best practices, risk mitigation, and compliance frameworks.
• Capable of functioning effectively in high-stress and high-stakes situations.
• Legally authorized to work in the US, EU, or APAC regions as designated.
• Enthusiastic about cybersecurity and self-motivated to continue learning and developing relevant skills, as well as maintaining industry-specific certifications.
• Proficient in English in both written and spoken forms (i.e., writing, reading, speaking, and understanding) with the ability to effectively communicate complex security concepts to end customers.
