This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Australia.
• Perform in-depth technical assessments in targeted strategic accounts to evaluate platform readiness, identify constraints, and uncover high-value adoption prospects across GitLab and the GitLab Duo Agent Platform.
• Direct the architecture and delivery design for intricate enterprise settings where platform migration, regulatory requirements, and product limitations converge.
• Collaborate with customer stakeholders and GitLab account teams to prioritize use cases according to business impact, technical feasibility, repeatability, and the long-term value of the platform.
• Create and develop bounded proofs, prototypes, deployment patterns, and reusable accelerators across areas such as source code management, CI/CD, security, compliance, and AI-driven workflows.
• Design architectures for self-managed and enterprise deployments, covering runners, access controls, network boundaries, observability, AI Gateway, model connectivity, and governance controls.
• Transform recurring field patterns into reusable assets like runbooks, templates, design documentation, technical guidance, product briefs, and reference architectures applicable across various accounts.
• Contribute code, technical designs, or architectural modifications when strategically necessary, in collaboration with product and engineering teams, to resolve upstream challenges.
• Travel as required for key customer interactions, architecture workshops, and team coordination, with anticipated travel up to 50%.
• Background in software engineering, platform architecture, forward-deployed engineering, technical consulting, or comparable customer-facing engineering positions.
• Solid software engineering principles, with the capability to read, analyze, and contribute to production systems, preferably with experience in Ruby on Rails and/or Go.
• Strong skills in systems design and software architecture, with experience in evaluating APIs, asynchronous workflows, CI/CD systems, security boundaries, scalability, and operational trade-offs.
• Practical experience with GitLab CI/CD, pipeline design, YAML, runners, and GitLab APIs.
• Familiarity with infrastructure as code and enterprise deployment tools such as Terraform, Ansible, Helm, or similar methodologies.
• Basic understanding of large language models, agentic patterns, tool orchestration, and the practical limitations of AI systems in production settings.
• Proven track record of creating reusable technical assets that extend beyond a single engagement, along with strong written and verbal communication skills for technical design and architecture advice.
• Ability to lead discussions with senior stakeholders across security, compliance, engineering, platform, and business teams, particularly in ambiguous enterprise contexts.
