This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.
• The main objective of this role is to provide, support, and maintain high-quality software solutions that encompass a variety of policy administration and ancillary systems.
• Assist with change initiatives to deliver product support and aid in resolving complex, high-severity issues.
• Utilize functional documentation and high-level designs to create Detailed Technical Specifications that undergo a comprehensive review process.
• Collaborate with the team leader to estimate workloads and plan task allocations.
• Create approved specifications for development tasks.
• Ensure all deliverables are completed according to plan and adhere to team standards.
• Conduct peer reviews of work and provide sign-off when necessary.
• Maintain documentation that is current and aligns with the project plan.
• Support Project Managers and Team Managers in delivering projects punctually and according to specifications.
• Offer walkthroughs and demonstrations to the business that meet their satisfaction.
• Provide timely assistance to other teams as needed.
• Support fellow team members by actively engaging in problem-solving and issue resolution.
• Contribute to the review of test strategies and scenarios developed by testers.
• Stay fully informed about the project's progress from Detailed Technical Specifications to implementation.
• Resolve or aid in the resolution of complex or high-severity issues promptly, ensuring code is correctly labeled and Change Requests are closed.
• Monitor system performance after implementation and during production phases.
• Cultivate strong relationships with business users by maintaining regular communication throughout the entire project lifecycle and addressing production concerns.
• Foster effective relationships with technical team members by being accessible for inquiries and advice, ensuring they understand project objectives.
• Extensive experience with C#, VB6, or IBM Mainframe, along with Oracle SQL and Linux Shell or Java scripts.
• Additional desirable skills include: VB6/VBA, PL/SQL, MS ADO, Macro4 Products, Business Objects, Visual Studio ISIS Papyrus, Oracle tools (APEX, Forms, etc.), Web Services, PVCS Version Manager, CA-Sort, Selcopy, Microfocus Workbench, and Dialog.
• Knowledge and experience in Life & Pensions products (such as Healthcare, Annuities, Bonds) and Payment Processing would be a significant asset.
• Experience in designing and coding application programs, as well as performing testing for developed applications.
• Ability to analyze organizational needs and goals to guide the development and implementation of application systems.
• Skilled in reviewing, analyzing, and modifying programming systems, including encoding, testing, debugging, and deploying for large-scale systems.
