This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Azerbaijan.
• Accountable for facilitating the import and export of goods while ensuring adherence to all applicable customs laws and regulations.
• Involved in the preparation and submission of all essential import/export documentation, classifying goods, calculating and arranging payment for duties and taxes, and acting as a liaison between clients and customs authorities to ensure seamless and lawful clearance of shipments across international borders.
• Responsible for preparing and submitting customs declarations along with all supporting paperwork to the customs authorities.
• Managing necessary documents for clearance, including but not limited to Commercial invoices and packing lists, Waybills, Certificates of origin, conformity, quality, sanitary, and phytosanitary reports, Import and export licenses or permits.
• Representing the importer or exporter in all interactions with customs officials.
• Providing advice to customers regarding import and export restrictions, license requirements, and other customs-related issues.
• Continuously updating customers’ and Trans Globe’s understanding of Azerbaijan’s changing trade regulations, tariff rates, and customs processes.
• Assisting customers in navigating regulatory challenges and avoiding penalties, fines, or shipment delays due to non-compliance.
• Classifying goods in accordance with the Harmonized System (HS) codes to accurately compute and quote all applicable duties, excise taxes, and Value Added Tax (VAT).
• Arranging for the settlement of all customs payments.
• Analyzing payment options and clearance schemes to assist customers in optimizing and potentially minimizing customs expenses.
• Acting as the main point of contact with Azerbaijani customs authorities and other pertinent government entities to resolve any issues and facilitate clearance.
• Coordinating with freight forwarders and shipping carriers to ensure the effective transportation of goods from their point of arrival to their final destination.
• Organizing bonded warehousing and distribution of goods as necessary.
• At least 5 years of experience in a similar role.
• Possession of a brokerage license.
• Familiarity with international shipping regulations, customs procedures, and Incoterms.
• Strong attention to detail.
