Cryptography Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Develop, implement, and sustain cryptographic solutions, including the integration and customization of Hardware Security Modules (HSMs) to ensure secure cryptographic services.

• Establish, implement, and maintain secure procedures for the generation and management of cryptographic assets (such as cryptographic keys) within a controlled environment.

• Collaborate with Product Owners and security specialists to create secure cryptographic workflows and tools.

• Offer cryptography guidance and consultancy to engineering teams, encouraging the correct application of cryptographic primitives and best practices.

• Assist internal and external stakeholders by resolving cryptographic implementation issues, managing technical challenges, and effectively communicating complex concepts.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

• At least 2 years of experience in software development.

• Proficient programming skills in C and Java; experience with Python and Shell scripting is advantageous.

• Strong passion for cryptography and/or security engineering.

• Solid understanding of cryptographic algorithms (e.g., AES, RSA, ECC, Diffie-Hellman, SHA).

• Good knowledge of Key management principles (e.g., Key generation, secure storage, rotation, revocation, and secure distribution).

• Familiarity with secure coding practices and fundamental system security concepts.

• Experience or eagerness to work with HSMs or secure key storage systems.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to learn rapidly and communicate effectively.

• Experience with PKCS#11, JCE, and well-known cryptographic libraries is required.

• Experience in backend, web application, or server development is preferred.

• Good knowledge or exposure to public Key Infrastructure (PKI), TLS, Key Management Systems (KMS), tokenization, or secure enclave technologies.

• Ability to understand stakeholder requirements and provide recommendations aligned with security best practices.

• Effective communication skills, a collaborative mindset, and a sense of ownership.
