Critical Mechanical System Specialist, Operations Engineering

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Assist in managing and supervising commissioning activities for essential mechanical systems, which include chiller plants, cooling towers, CRAH/CRAC units, heat-rejection systems, and controls/BMS.

• Confirm the performance of mechanical systems, operational sequences, and readiness for customer load deployment.

• Perform site inspections, audits, and health assessments focused on mechanical reliability, efficiency, and risk management.

• Utilize industry standards (including ASHRAE TC 9.9) as a practical reference for evaluating cooling performance, environmental conditions, and system preparedness.

• Recognize operational deficiencies or risks, document observations, and assist in mitigation and resolution processes.

• Serve as a liaison between design/construction teams and site operations to ensure all documentation, procedures, and training are finalized for project turnover.

• Offer insights and lessons learned to enhance standards, processes, and future data center projects.

⛳️ Requirements

• Necessary experience in supporting mechanical systems within mission-critical or industrial settings (such as data centers, oil & gas, healthcare, manufacturing, military, etc.).

• Familiarity with commissioning activities from an operational, validation, or oversight viewpoint (ownership is not mandatory).

• Practical understanding of mechanical cooling systems, including chillers, cooling towers, CRAH/CRAC units, and heat-rejection systems.

• Capability to work independently in a remote, highly autonomous setting.

• Willingness to travel up to 50%, including week-long site visits.
