Counselor – Telehealth

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Oversee the completion of patient databases, treatment plans, progress notes, discharge summaries, and other vital documentation in compliance with relevant federal and state regulations, as well as agency policies and procedures.

• Guide patients through the program's objectives, phase system requirements, rules and regulations, sanctions, service hours, patient rights, and additional details to facilitate their adjustment to the program.

• Ensure each patient is evaluated and assigned according to treatment phases in alignment with Federal and State standards and agency policies.

• Maintain organized and updated patient files for personal and agency use, following established policies and procedures.

• Provide counseling to patients in crisis by recognizing their resources and coping mechanisms to assist them in managing and resolving the crisis.

• Offer counseling to patients who have not complied with specific program requirements to enhance their understanding of the consequences of noncompliance.

• Coordinate referrals to other agencies and community resources when suitable.

• Conduct reviews of treatment plans.

• Engage in case conferences and case reviews in accordance with established policies and procedures.

• Enhance knowledge of federal, state, and agency regulations concerning confidentiality, methadone treatment, and substance abuse counseling certification.

• Present all internal and external correspondence to the supervisor for review and approval.

• Collect necessary documentation from patients, when applicable, to ensure adherence to established policies and procedures.

• Prepare and submit monthly and quarterly statistical reports to the supervisor.

• Attend team meetings and complete all required training courses in a timely manner.

• Perform other assigned duties.

⛳️ Requirements

• Hold a license that meets the qualifications set by the Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) or possess certification recognized by the Department of Alcohol and Drug Programs.

• Ensure compliance with continuing education hours and/or units (CEH or CEU) as mandated by the Department of Alcohol and Drug Programs and/or other regulatory bodies.

• Preferred experience in dependency and/or medication-assisted treatment.

• An Associate's degree or higher in Alcohol and Drug Abuse Services or a related field is required.

• A Bachelor's degree or higher in Human Services or a related field is preferred.

• A Master's degree or higher in Psychology or a related field is mandatory.

• Previous experience in substance abuse counseling is preferred.
