This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Assist in leading the company’s approach to employment-related and operational disputes.
• Proactively oversee legal risks across a large, multi-state care network.
• Collaborate closely with both HQ and Care operations teams to address pre-litigation disputes and ongoing litigation.
• Provide practical guidance on employment and compliance matters.
• Develop scalable processes that minimize risk and facilitate compliant growth.
• Help navigate an increasingly intricate regulatory and litigation environment while maintaining efficient and compassionate operations at scale.
• Directly impact business practices, shape risk mitigation strategies, and work at the intersection of legal, operations, and technology.
• Manage outside counsel and control litigation expenses.
• Support internal investigations and sensitive employee-related issues.
• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree and active bar membership, with 4–6 years of pertinent legal experience.
• Strong background in employment law and litigation, with experience in managing disputes and administrative claims (e.g., EEOC or state agencies).
• In-depth understanding of California wage and hour law, along with familiarity in multi-state employment compliance.
• Experience in drafting employment documents or contributing to motions, pleadings, and litigation strategies.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the capability to translate complex legal concepts into practical business advice.
• Intellectual curiosity; engages with issues, poses insightful questions, and challenges assumptions rather than accepting them at face value.
• Practical, solutions-focused mindset; collaborates with the business in a constructive, pragmatic manner instead of adopting a purely risk-averse stance.
