This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.
• Assist in managing costs throughout all phases of projects, ensuring alignment with project scope, budget, and schedule.
• Create and sustain detailed cost plans and estimates, focusing on heavy civil aspects such as earthworks, foundations, and utility infrastructure.
• Generate and deliver monthly cost reports, executive summaries, and financial updates to stakeholders.
• Oversee change control processes, which include reviewing and negotiating change orders as well as post-contract cost variances.
• Supervise pricing reviews from contractors and subcontractors, validate scopes, and develop procurement strategies.
• Work alongside design teams, general contractors, and vendors to confirm cost estimates and conduct quantity surveying.
• Promote continuous improvement in cost management practices, fostering standardization and top-tier delivery.
• Assist with cost risk analysis and scenario planning for multi-phase projects.
• Keep track of market trends and provide insights regarding escalation, labor availability, and material pricing.
• Formulate strategies for cost optimization and value engineering.
• Collaborate with scheduling teams to synchronize cost forecasts with project timelines.
• Monitor and report on cash flow forecasts and commitments to ensure financial accuracy.
• Assess and validate invoices in accordance with contract terms and approved budgets.
• Maintain comprehensive cost databases and benchmarking information for future projects.
• Mentor junior team members and contribute to a high-performance, collaborative team environment.
• Ensure adherence to internal financial systems, regulatory requirements, and SOX controls where applicable.
• Establish and nurture strong relationships with clients, vendors, and project teams to facilitate successful project delivery.
• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Experience in heavy civil work, preferably from a contractor or general contractor perspective (earthworks, utilities, structural foundations).
• Comprehensive experience in cost management or project controls within large-scale, mission-critical settings (e.g., data centers, high-tech, industrial).
• A proven history in construction consultancy is preferred.
• Solid foundation in budgeting, financial reporting, cost control systems, and Earned Value Management (EVM).
• Proficient in procurement strategies and the commercial management of contractor/vendor agreements.
• RICS accreditation or progress towards certification is a plus.
• Exceptional communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
• Proficient in industry-standard cost management tools and software.
