This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +1 more state.
• Understand the technical specifications and design criteria related to Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Network, and Building Automation Systems within a Data Center to accurately represent costs in the project model.
• Create, sustain, and continuously enhance detailed cost models for data center construction initiatives, including CAPEX estimates and considerations for lifecycle costs.
• Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders to ensure that project budgets are aligned with the company's objectives regarding safety, delivery, performance, schedule, quality, and cost efficiency.
• Maintain organized cost documentation to provide a clear audit trail for estimates, budgets, forecasts, approvals, and cost modifications.
• Track project expenditures, commitments, and forecasts, ensuring they match approved budgets while identifying any variances.
• Evaluate cost variances and deliver actionable insights and recommendations to mitigate financial risks and uphold budget control.
• Assist project management in the contracting process by reviewing bids, validating pricing, and participating in commercial assessments.
• Assess and validate change orders, ensuring that cost impacts are accurate, justified, and consistent with contract terms.
• Prepare and present cost reports, dashboards, and cash flow forecasts to internal stakeholders and senior leadership.
• Implement and uphold cost control processes, tools, and reporting standards throughout all stages of construction and project delivery.
• Ensure adherence to financial policies, project control procedures, and contractual cost obligations.
• Effectively communicate cost-related insights and risks to senior executives, both internally and externally.
• Conduct business transactions with the utmost integrity, taking into account financial, legal, and environmental factors.
• Exhibit sound judgment and decision-making capabilities in complex and ambiguous scenarios.
• A Bachelor’s degree is required (Construction Management, Engineering, Finance, or a related field is preferred).
• 3+ years of experience in cost management, project controls, or estimating within an EPC or utility-scale construction environment.
• Strong expertise in cost modeling, budgeting, forecasting, and cost control processes.
• Experience with change management, contract cost analysis, and financial reporting.
• A background in engineering, estimating, or project controls is advantageous.
• Experience working in an engineered systems or project-based business model.
• Familiarity with data center construction is preferred but not mandatory.
• Exceptional communication, leadership, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong comprehension of financial principles and cost management practices.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced Excel skills preferred.
