This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Japan.
• Prepare, assess, and negotiate a diverse array of commercial agreements, such as licensing contracts, vendor agreements, distribution contracts, and partnership arrangements.
• Provide guidance on Japanese employment and HR issues, encompassing hiring, termination, and adherence to local labor laws.
• Offer corporate governance advice regarding entity management, shareholder agreements, and board-level concerns pertinent to Japan.
• Oversee relationships with and coordinate the activities of external Japanese legal counsel across various practice areas.
• Keep abreast of and provide counsel on regulatory changes in Japan that impact Xsolla's business activities.
• Assist with cross-border transactions and collaborate with global legal teams on multi-jurisdictional issues.
• Recognize and address legal risks associated with all business operations in Japan.
• At least 7 years of experience as a corporate attorney, either at a respected law firm or within an in-house legal department of a corporation.
• Must be licensed to practice law in Japan (bengoshi qualification or an equivalent is required).
• Extensive expertise in negotiations and drafting of a wide range of complex agreements and corporate matters, applicable to both the Japanese market and internationally.
• Comprehensive experience in managing corporate in-house issues, including licensing agreements, vendor contracts, and HR/employment topics.
• Full professional proficiency in both Japanese and English, in written and spoken forms (mandatory).
• Previous experience in the gaming, entertainment, or technology sectors is preferred.
