COP27 Communications Champion

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Assist the Head of Communications & Public Affairs (HCM);

• Organize the communications-related preparations to ensure that the BCI has the appropriate people, materials, technology, and resources at COP27, both in-person and virtually, to support key allies and partners (including governments and international agencies) in engaging potential collaborators;

• Enhance BCI’s visibility by aiding communication efforts at pertinent COP events – including meetings, interviews, recording side-events, editing, streaming, and promoting through social media and articles on the BCI website;

• Oversee post-COP communication tasks (including coordinating post-event messaging, both internal and external BCI communications, business events, and video compilation with the Creative Unit);

• Elevate the BCI’s profile among audiences within and outside the climate change policy community by identifying opportunities for press coverage, website content, or social media engagement in relation to COP27;

• Assist in the execution of the BCI’s communications strategy;

• Actively engage in establishing communication channels with stakeholders following COP events;

• Create content to be shared via social media, websites, newsletters, press releases, and other distribution mediums; and

• Ensure that messaging aligns with the key strategies of the organization, among other responsibilities.


⛳️ Requirements

• Exceptional oral communication skills, including the ability to build effective working relationships, adapt flexibly across professional and operational boundaries, and communicate professionally with stakeholders at all levels;

• Strong capabilities in writing, editing, proofreading, layout and design, as well as professional publishing;

• A high level of creativity;

• Good understanding of communication channels (e.g., social media);

• Self-assured communicator;

• Meticulous attention to detail; and

• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage competing demands under pressure;

• Proficiency in another language aside from English will be regarded as an asset;

• Competence in Microsoft Office applications; and

• Strong knowledge of topics central to the BCI, such as climate change, climate finance, and blockchain technology is preferred.

• A relevant degree or training in Communications is preferred;

• Demonstrated experience in a communications role within an organization (preferably not-for-profit or environmental);

• Experience in a role driven by targets;

• A portfolio showcasing exceptional writing and editing skills; and

• Experience working independently and collaboratively in teams to advance projects using initiative.
