This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.
• Oversee the accounting functions of the management company, including cash management and accounts payable/receivable, as well as vendor management.
• Provide leadership and supervision of the third-party fund administration accounting team during monthly and quarter-end close processes, ensuring the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements and supporting schedules for the holding company and its subsidiaries.
• Collaborate with the third-party accounting team to prepare annual financial statements along with the corresponding footnotes.
• Manage intricate audit and tax engagements with a Big 4 service provider for the holding company and its subsidiaries.
• Develop and enhance budgeting, planning, and cash forecasting functions in partnership with the Managing Director, while regularly tracking budget versus actual variances, including the creation of variance analyses and related commentary.
• Prepare financial reports and analyses for presentation to external stakeholders of the company.
• Oversee related party transactions between the holding company and other business lines, working in close collaboration with other Lafayette Square teams on shared accounting and business matters.
• Partner with various departments and verticals within the holding company to provide valuable finance and accounting insights.
• Maintain, enhance, and execute all accounts payable and accounts receivable processes and controls.
• Supervise the management of vendor contracts, focusing on utilization, relevance, and renewal terms.
• Compile a weekly operational expense summary to ensure timely payments to vendors.
• Implement and uphold proper documentation concerning accounting controls and operational procedures.
• Provide support and analysis regarding potential new service providers across various disciplines.
• Proactively integrate AI into processes and procedures, as well as into the development of work products.
• Create and implement best practices for the internal employee expense reimbursement software and reporting.
• Conduct ad hoc financial analyses and prepare technical accounting memos related to underlying business matters and prospective new business lines.
• At least 7 years of relevant experience in management company accounting, preferably with a private credit/equity fund or hedge fund.
• Significant experience with Quickbooks is essential.
• Experience in general ledger and/or FP&A software implementation is a plus.
• Strong proficiency in Excel is required.
• In-depth understanding of GAAP as it pertains to fund/investment management.
• CPA accreditation is highly preferred.
