This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.
• Take ownership of and manage the financial close process on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
• Ensure precise and timely financial reporting in line with U.S. GAAP standards.
• Lead the processes for revenue recognition and ensure compliance with accounting policies.
• Supervise the integrity of the general ledger, along with account reconciliations, accruals, and journal entries.
• Design, implement, and uphold internal controls and accounting procedures.
• Act as the main contact for external audits and the preparation process for audits.
• Manage relationships with Pilot, external accounting providers, tax advisors, and auditors.
• Collaborate with the SVP Finance on financial reporting, board materials, fundraising assistance, and strategic initiatives.
• Propel enhancements in accounting systems, automation, and reporting processes.
• Review intricate accounting transactions and offer technical accounting advice.
• Oversee cash reconciliation processes and ensure balance sheet accuracy.
• Guarantee compliance with tax, regulatory, and reporting obligations.
• Develop scalable accounting processes to accommodate company growth.
• Mentor and nurture accounting team members as the organization expands.
• Serve as the internal custodian of financial data quality and reporting accuracy across systems.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• CPA designation is preferred.
• Over 8 years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership roles.
• Strong grasp of U.S. GAAP and revenue recognition principles.
• Experience in managing audits and external accounting relationships.
• Preferred experience in e-commerce, marketplace, subscription, SaaS, or consumer businesses.
• Proficient in systems knowledge, including QuickBooks, Bill.com, Stripe, Shopify, or similar platforms.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel and financial analysis.
• Exceptional organizational and project management skills.
• High attention to detail with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
