This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Take full responsibility for delivering comprehensive computer vision projects focused on detecting equipment defects, identifying thermal anomalies, monitoring vegetation encroachment, and overseeing surveillance in closed areas to prevent human and animal intrusion.
• Define, plan, and execute projects from the initial problem framing to the deployment and monitoring of production solutions.
• Translate client specifications and raw data into effective computer vision solutions to successfully deliver client projects.
• Collaborate on team projects and work alongside engineers to achieve shared milestones.
• Stay updated with the latest research in ML/CV and assess innovative methods applicable to the power-grid sector.
• Modify and implement algorithms derived from research papers, validate against benchmarks, and evaluate production feasibility.
• Utilize advancements in deep learning and generative AI to enhance model training, accuracy, and reliability.
• Create experiments that involve hyperparameter tuning, ablation studies, and appropriate baseline comparisons.
• Conduct structured error analyses across various failure modes and data subsets.
• Choose and justify model architectures based on task requirements, balancing latency and accuracy considerations.
• Develop high-quality production-grade Python libraries for the entire ML lifecycle.
• Design and implement data pipelines for data ingestion, preprocessing, annotation workflows, and quality monitoring.
• Manage experiment tracking and model versioning processes.
• Construct model-serving pipelines that fulfill latency and throughput specifications.
• Perform code reviews and write integration tests for ML pipelines.
• Disseminate knowledge, maintain ML software quality standards, and communicate research findings, technical decisions, and model limitations to stakeholders and clients.
• 2-5 years of professional experience in computer vision and machine learning.
• Strong understanding of contemporary computer vision and deep neural networks, including object detection, semantic segmentation, image classification, vision transformers, foundation models, vision-language models, and similarity search.
• Experience in taking at least one ML model into production and ensuring its ongoing maintenance.
• Skilled in selecting, fine-tuning, and adapting CNN, transformer, and foundation model architectures for tailored use cases.
• Demonstrated ability to read and comprehend ML research papers, extracting key concepts and implementing them effectively.
• Capability to debug training instabilities and perform systematic error analysis.
• Proficiency in Python and the core ML stack, including PyTorch, Lightning, OpenCV, NumPy, pandas, Scikit-Learn, FastAPI, and Pydantic.
• Strong software engineering practices, encompassing Git, unit and integration testing using Pytest, CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions, Docker, reproducible environments, experiment tracking, model versioning, ML DevOps, and Python type hinting.
• Proven track record of independently managing technical projects from initial problem framing to successful production deployment.
