This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.
• Research Task Design: Convert actual research workflows into intricate, multi-step benchmark assignments.
• Technical Implementation: Develop comprehensive reference solutions utilizing Python and notebook environments.
• Evaluation Criteria & Reference Solutions: Establish the distinctions between rigorous research reasoning and plausible yet unsupported analysis.
• Model Output Review: Assess AI-generated attempts in various computational research tasks.
• Research Collaboration: Collaborate closely with researchers, task authors, and other subject-matter experts.
• A minimum of 1 year of experience in a current academic, industry, government, or national laboratory research position.
• An MSc or PhD in a STEM field, computational social science, computational humanities, or a similar research-intensive area.
• Extensive experience with Python for analysis, simulation, modeling, or data pipelines.
• A solid foundation in experimental design, hypothesis testing, and thorough evaluation.
• Experience in interpreting complex datasets and deriving evidence-based conclusions.
• Practical knowledge of Git, IDEs, and Jupyter or Colab notebooks.
• Excellent written communication and technical documentation abilities.
• Capability to work independently on ambiguous and open-ended research challenges.
• Consistent availability of around 35 hours per week.
