This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona, +8 more states.
• Take responsibility for overseeing and tracking annual recertification timelines throughout the portfolio, ensuring recertifications remain on schedule.
• Create and distribute annual recertification notices to residents promptly and accurately, in collaboration with site teams and compliance personnel.
• Track recertification completion rates and proactively alert Compliance Leadership and site teams about any outstanding items.
• Keep well-organized recertification tracking logs and guarantee that all documentation is current in property management and compliance systems.
• Identify recurring patterns or systemic issues that lead to recertification delays and escalate these with suggested solutions.
• Assist Compliance Specialists in processing and tracking move-in applications and recertification files as needed based on workload.
• Aid in collecting, verifying, and entering applicant income, asset, and household details in accordance with program guidelines.
• Provide assistance to site teams regarding program requirements and necessary documentation.
• Help prepare move-in and recertification files for audits conducted by investors, state agencies, or internal teams.
• Act as a resource for Compliance Specialists on complex inquiries, compliance processes, and program requirements.
• Support Senior Compliance Specialists with file review activities during busy periods or tight deadlines.
• Assist in the preparation of compliance reports for investors, state agencies, and internal leadership as assigned.
• Contribute to audit preparation efforts by ensuring files are well-organized and ready for review.
• Help monitor compliance activities and reporting deadlines, escalating any concerns as necessary.
• Provide coverage for the Compliance Specialist position during both planned and unplanned absences, including processing and tracking move-in applications and recertifications.
• Cover the Senior Compliance Specialist role during absences, which includes file review, escalation triage, and support for team functions.
• Ensure service continuity and compliance standards are maintained across both roles during coverage periods.
• Actively engage in skill development related to file review, quality control, and compliance mentorship in preparation for advancement to a Senior Compliance Specialist role.
• Participate in training, coaching, and knowledge-sharing opportunities alongside Senior Compliance Specialists and Compliance Leadership.
• Exhibit growing expertise in LIHTC and other affordable housing program requirements.
• Take on additional compliance-related projects and responsibilities as they arise to enhance expertise.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Must possess 3–5+ years of experience in affordable housing compliance.
• Previous experience in annual recertification processing and tracking is strongly preferred.
• Experience in supporting or covering multiple compliance functions is advantageous.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to handle multiple processes simultaneously and meet strict deadlines.
• Solid understanding of affordable housing compliance requirements, including LIHTC and related program guidelines.
• Excellent organizational abilities to monitor portfolio-wide recertification timelines and proactively identify issues.
• Strong communication and customer service skills when interacting with applicants, residents, site teams, and compliance colleagues.
• Ability to quickly adapt to coverage responsibilities across various role levels.
• Familiarity with property management or compliance software preferred (e.g., Yardi, Rent Café).
• Demonstrates initiative, accountability, and a growth mindset aligned with progression towards a Senior Compliance Specialist role.
