This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Oversee operational compliance throughout Darwin's property management lifecycle, which encompasses leasing, resident management, HCV programs, property operations, maintenance, notices, evictions, registrations, inspections, and requirements from HOA and local jurisdictions.

• Cultivate a thorough understanding of workflows and evaluate their alignment with relevant laws, regulations, policies, contractual obligations, and Pagaya compliance standards.

• Create a risk-based monitoring and testing program across transactions, resident communications, fees and charges, system activity, documentation, and operational exceptions.

• Detect compliance gaps and determine whether issues are isolated incidents or indicative of systemic risks.

• Lead root-cause analysis and collaborate with operational leaders to implement corrective actions and preventative controls.

• Track complaints, disputes, violations, exceptions, litigation, and other indicators that suggest emerging compliance and legal risks.

• Act as the primary operational liaison to Pagaya Legal and Compliance and external counsel.

• Manage issue intake, fact collection, escalation, response, remediation, and the implementation of guidance.

• Collaborate with Operations, Product, and Technology teams to integrate compliance controls into workflows and systems.

• Assist with regulatory inquiries, audits, and investigations.

• Develop processes for documenting, tracking, escalating, and resolving compliance findings.

• Provide regular reports to Executive Leadership regarding material risks, findings, remediation efforts, and emerging concerns.

• Facilitate targeted training as necessary.


⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in property management compliance, operational compliance, risk management, controls, audit, legal operations, or a related field.

• Strong understanding of residential property management operations.

• Familiarity with Fair Housing, landlord-tenant laws, habitability standards, accessibility/ADA regulations, privacy issues, and eviction/notice requirements.

• Experience in evaluating operational processes and performing compliance monitoring, testing, investigations, audits, or similar assessments.

• Excellent analytical skills to identify trends, evaluate systemic risks, and convert requirements into effective operational controls.

• Strong judgment and confidence to challenge existing practices and escalate issues when necessary.

• Exceptional written communication, documentation, and organizational abilities.

• Capability to work collaboratively across Operations, Legal, Compliance, Product, Technology, and senior leadership.

• A Bachelor's degree is preferred.
