This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Arab Emirates (UAE).
• Assist the Deputy MLRO and MLRO in the daily implementation of the firm's compliance, AML/CFT, sanctions, and financial crime duties.
• Help ensure continuous adherence to the CBB regulations and the firm's internal policies, procedures, and controls.
• Carry out customer onboarding and review processes, including KYC, KYB, CDD, and EDD evaluations for both individual and institutional clients.
• Evaluate customer profiles, sources of funds, sources of wealth, ownership structures, and related documentation to determine customer risk and onboarding appropriateness.
• Execute periodic, trigger-based, and event-driven customer reviews and remediation efforts to guarantee customer records are comprehensive, accurate, and current.
• Analyze customer transactions and account activities to detect unusual, suspicious, or potentially high-risk behaviors.
• Conduct transaction monitoring assessments, alert investigations, and case analyses, documenting findings and escalating concerns as needed.
• Investigate atypical activities, study transactional patterns and customer behaviors, and assist in preparing and escalating suspicious activity matters for potential STR filing.
• Aid in creating internal suspicious activity referrals, STR-related documents, and supporting case records, following internal procedures under the guidance of the Deputy MLRO and MLRO.
• Carry out sanctions screening, adverse media evaluations, and politically exposed person (PEP) reviews, escalating potential matches or concerns as per internal protocols.
• Maintain and update compliance records, registers, logs, and case files, encompassing customer due diligence records, transaction review logs, sanctions and PEP screening records, training logs, and regulatory correspondence files.
• Assist in the preparation and submission of regulatory reports and returns within set timelines, and manage trackers for regulatory obligations and submissions.
• Support the examination and adoption of relevant regulatory developments, including updates to applicable CBB requirements, and aid in integrating such changes into internal policies, procedures, and controls.
• Help draft, review, update, and sustain compliance policies, procedures, manuals, and internal controls to ensure their relevance and effectiveness.
• Assist in compliance monitoring activities, thematic reviews, internal control checks, and tracking remediation across the organization.
• Generate internal compliance reports, management information, dashboards, and updates for senior management and governance forums as required.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders across operations, customer support, legal, risk, product, and other business areas to gather information and support compliance reviews, investigations, and remediation activities.
• Facilitate internal audits, regulatory inspections, independent reviews, and external examinations by organizing documentation, responding to information requests, and maintaining audit-ready records.
• Prepare meeting materials, keep action trackers, record minutes as necessary, and follow up on unresolved compliance issues.
• Provide training and guidance to new joiners within the Compliance Department on relevant compliance procedures, workflows, and documentation standards as needed.
• Offer general administrative and operational assistance to the Compliance Department as required.
• Undertake any other compliance, AML/CFT, sanctions, monitoring, investigation, or regulatory-related tasks assigned by the Deputy MLRO or MLRO as necessary.
• Bachelor’s degree.
• 3–5 years of relevant experience in compliance, AML/CFT, financial crime, or regulatory compliance, ideally within a regulated financial services, payments, fintech, or virtual asset setting.
• Solid understanding of AML/CFT, sanctions, KYC/KYB, CDD, EDD, transaction monitoring, and suspicious activity escalation processes.
• Familiarity with CBB regulatory requirements, including applicable AML/CFT obligations; knowledge of CBB Volume 5 is preferred.
• Experience in customer onboarding evaluations, periodic reviews, remediation, and customer risk assessments for both individual and institutional clients.
• Proficiency in reviewing transaction monitoring alerts, investigating unusual activities, documenting findings, and appropriately escalating issues.
• Exposure to sanctions screening, adverse media screening, PEP reviews, and handling name screening alerts.
• Experience assisting with internal suspicious activity referrals, case preparation, and supporting STR-related processes is preferred.
• Proven experience in maintaining compliance records, logs, trackers, and case files in an organized and audit-ready manner.
• Ability to review and evaluate customer documentation, ownership structures, sources of funds, and sources of wealth information with sound judgment and attention to detail.
• Experience supporting regulatory reporting, internal reporting, compliance monitoring, audits, inspections, or control reviews is advantageous.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the capability to prepare clear case notes, summaries, and internal reports.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and work independently on assigned responsibilities while appropriately escalating issues.
• High level of integrity, professionalism, discretion, and sound judgment.
• Relevant professional certifications such as ACAMS, ICA, or equivalent would be beneficial.
