This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.
• Conduct investigations, assessments, and negotiate settlements by leveraging technical expertise to achieve fair and timely resolutions for cases.
• Adjust reserves and offer recommendations to ensure that reserving activities align with corporate policies.
• Communicate effectively regarding reserve and reinsurance notices and reports.
• Engage promptly and professionally with all stakeholders while addressing inquiries and collecting claim information.
• Comply with company service standards and adhere to claims handling guidelines.
• Manage and control litigation and claim expenses effectively (including budgets, experts, and claim strategies).
• Collaborate with and direct legal counsel on claims that necessitate litigation, and attend mediations, arbitrations, and/or trials as required.
• Input and report on ISO claims.
• Resolve claims within the designated authority level.
• Maintain claim files with professional notes, summaries, detailed analyses, and specific action plans with target dates.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by management and mentor junior staff.
• A bachelor’s degree is mandatory.
• Over 8 years of experience in managing and handling complex casualty/bodily injury claims within an insurance carrier.
• Ongoing education in insurance and/or relevant designations are expected.
• Possession of a license, or the ability to obtain one, in all states where Kingstone policies are issued.
• Familiarity with Medicare Reporting guidelines and qualifications for Medicare Set Aside.
• A curious mindset, alongside strong technical skills in claims, and a genuine passion for the industry.
• A comprehensive technical understanding of insurance coverage and claims procedures.
• A collaborative team player who shows initiative and works efficiently in a remote setting.
• Detail-oriented with exceptional organizational abilities.
• Capability to perform effectively under stress.
• Willingness to travel as needed for meetings, trials, mediations, or other legal proceedings.
