This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Tennessee.
• The College & Career Counselor will operate from our office in White House, TN, or from a home office within the state, reporting to the Manager of Counseling Services while delivering a comprehensive College & Career Readiness Program to TNCA students.
• This role is designed to support the mission and operational needs that ensure students achieve success in their instructional and career pathway programs, leading to outstanding post-secondary plans.
• The counselor will assist students and their parents in navigating graduation requirements, course selection and scheduling, career pathway planning and completion, as well as crisis intervention.
• They will reinforce the framework of educational and career continuum programs within the school, focusing particularly on the management of CCR-related initiatives.
• Serving as the school's authority on state course requirements, academic planning, and career pathways essential for obtaining a diploma and certifications, the counselor will also oversee other metric-driven state programs.
• Collaboration with the school counseling team is vital to establish a comprehensive counseling program that supports all students.
• Cooperation with the special education team is necessary to ensure equitable service for students with an IEP.
• The counselor will assist the school’s leadership team in executing and monitoring the school improvement plan and its objectives.
• They will create, plan, and implement a thorough counseling program that addresses the academic development, personal growth, and career planning needs of all students.
• Coordinating and supporting school staff in the execution of the College & Career Readiness program for students is a key responsibility.
• Monitoring the implementation of special programs focused on career awareness, exploration, and preparation is essential.
• Staying updated on all high school graduation requirements related to career pathways is a necessity.
• The counselor will contribute to the development and coordination of CCR & CTE programs, including Dual Enrollment, Internships, Mentorships, EPSO development, and industry-sanctioned clubs.
• They will facilitate communication among high school teachers, counselors, administrators, Learning Coaches, and students.
• Counseling students on issues related to course drops and schedule changes within CCR pathways is expected.
• The counselor must ensure that the counseling staff is prepared to assist teachers when students enroll mid-semester, providing guidance on integrating these students into their coursework while managing previous grades, credits, and evaluations appropriately.
• They will oversee the receipt and review of student transcripts and manage the entry of credits into the online transcript system.
• Reporting and referring critical incidents that could compromise student well-being is an obligation as dictated by law, administrative regulations, or ethical standards.
• Keeping informed about community resources essential for supporting students in distress and making these resources available to school teams and families as needed is crucial.
• The counselor will collaborate with school staff to identify students who may be at risk or in crisis.
• Assisting families through the school withdrawal process while collecting relevant data regarding withdrawals is part of the role.
• Supporting the successful administration of state testing, which may involve required travel, is also a responsibility.
• Other duties may be assigned as necessary.
• A Master’s Degree in Counselor Education is preferred.
• An active Tennessee School Counseling license is required.
• A minimum of 3 years of experience in school counseling is necessary.
• Proficiency in Career Pathways and experience in a CTE-focused school setting is preferred.
• Travel to in-person events is required.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential.
• A customer-focused approach is important.
• A high degree of flexibility is necessary.
• Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced, independent environment is expected.
