Collections Specialist – Medical Biller

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Mexico.

📋 Description

• Submits accurate and timely invoices to payers for the products and services rendered.

• Understands the terms and fee schedules for all contracts related to submitted invoices.

• Correctly assesses quantities and prices for billed medications.

• Verifies that services and products are appropriately authorized and that necessary documentation is maintained.

• Ensures that invoices are generated for services and products that are properly ordered and confirmed as delivered.

• Evaluates received payments for accuracy and applies them correctly in the system.

• Confirms that received payments align with the fee schedule.

• Accurately applies payments to the patient account.

• Guarantees that secondary bills and patient invoices are dispatched within 48 hours of payment receipt.

• Alerts the Reimbursement Manager regarding any overpayments or duplicate payments for the same service.

• Transfers payments meant for other offices within 48 hours of receipt.

• Follows up on submitted invoices to ensure prompt payment.

• Makes calls to confirm that submitted claims have been received and are being processed.

• Sends notifications to the patient or responsible party if their insurance provider does not make payment within a reasonable timeframe.

• Generates and dispatches statements and collection letters.

• Follows up on all denials within 48 hours of receipt.

• Ensures adherence to policies and guidelines outlined in the contract terms and fee schedule.

• Complies with HIPAA guidelines when accessing and sharing patient information to uphold patient and business confidentiality.


⛳️ Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.

• 0 – 6 months of prior experience in Infusion Reimbursement or Intake/Admissions.

• Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

• Basic proficiency in Microsoft Word.
