This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona.
• Assessing patient records, physician notes, and additional pertinent documentation to gather information regarding diagnoses, procedures, and treatments.
• Identifying the necessary diagnostic and procedural information for precise coding of an authorization.
• Assigning suitable ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes based on the insights obtained from the medical records.
• Verifying the accuracy of assigned codes, ensuring compliance with coding guidelines and regulations, while also detecting any discrepancies or errors.
• Engaging with physicians, clinical stakeholders, and other teams such as surgical scheduling and authorization management to clarify any uncertainties in the documentation or coding.
• Maintaining the security and confidentiality of patient information as required by HIPAA.
• High School Diploma/GED
• 2-3 years of experience in coding and medical terminology
• Ortho coding experience is mandatory
• Must possess AAPC/AHIMA/NHA Certification with current credentials
• Coding Certification from AAPC/AHIMA/NHA (CPC, CCS-P, CBCS)
• Proficient in medical terminology
• Comprehensive understanding of coding guidelines and regulations
• Capability to identify and rectify discrepancies in medical records or claims.
• Precision is essential in coding, necessitating great attention to detail.
• Effective communication skills with physicians and other healthcare professionals.
• Competence in efficiently inputting and managing coding data.
• Normal office environment
• Requires a combination of sitting and standing typical of a standard office setting.
• Some bending and stretching will be necessary.
• Manual dexterity required for using a calculator and computer keyboard.
