
Coding Specialist β Orthopedic Services

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.
β’ Review physician documentation, operative reports, and clinical records to assign the correct diagnosis and procedure codes for orthopedic services, which include office visits, imaging, physical therapy, and surgical procedures.
β’ Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations, payer requirements, and internal policies.
β’ Collaborate with providers and clinical staff to clarify documentation and enhance accuracy.
β’ Monitor edits, denials, and rejections, providing assistance with corrections and follow-up as necessary.
β’ Work alongside the billing team to resolve discrepancies and facilitate clean claim submissions.
β’ Keep up-to-date with coding guidelines, regulatory changes, and payer updates pertinent to orthopedic services.
β’ Accurately input charge data and maintain thorough, compliant documentation.
β’ Assist in reviewing and assigning CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS codes based on provider documentation.
β’ Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned.
β’ High school diploma or GED is required; an Associate degree is preferred.
β’ An active coding certification (such as CPC or CCS) is required.
β’ A minimum of 1 year of experience in medical coding or a related field is necessary.
β’ Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR/EMR) and coding systems is preferred.
β’ Knowledge of terminology related to orthopedic, physical therapy, or podiatry is an advantage.
β’ Capability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
β’ Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams) is required.
