This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
β’ Evaluate clinical documentation to assign and organize diagnostic and procedural codes for specified patient categories.
β’ Choose and arrange ICD-10 and/or CPT/HCPCS codes for ancillary services, hospital, clinic, physician professional fees, technical fees, and evaluation and management cases.
β’ Analyze facility records to ensure that APC assignments and/or Evaluation and Management codes accurately represent documented diagnoses and procedures.
β’ Extract clinical data following documentation review to support diagnoses, procedures, and discharge outcomes.
β’ Execute assigned tasks utilizing appropriate resources.
β’ Serve as a resource for client personnel concerning data integrity, clarification, and compliant coding practices, including provider inquiries.
β’ Uphold patient and provider confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
β’ Engage in client and Savista meetings, training sessions, and conference calls.
β’ Stay updated on ICD-10, CPT/HCPCS, coding guidelines, government regulations, protocols, and third-party requirements.
β’ Successfully complete a pre-employment skills assessment.
β’ Possess an active AHIMA credential, such as RHIA, RHIT, CCS, or CCA, or an active AAPC credential, including COC, CCS-P, CPC, or a related specialty credential.
β’ Have two years of recent, relevant hands-on coding experience.
β’ Demonstrate knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, pharmacology, pathophysiology, ICD-10, and CPT/HCPCS code sets.
β’ Maintain a coding accuracy rate of 95% while adhering to client-specific and/or Savista production and quality standards.
β’ Exhibit proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word, and Excel.
β’ Ability to input data and organize, sort, and filter Excel files.
β’ Possess excellent interpersonal and problem-solving abilities with both internal and external customers.
β’ Relevant experience in an active production coding environment is strongly preferred.
β’ An associate degree in Health Information Management or a healthcare-related field, or equivalent education and experience, is preferred.
β’ Experience with Rcx, Cerner, or Optum is considered a plus.
