This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Massachusetts.
• Assign suitable diagnosis codes (ICD-10) and procedure codes (CPT/HCPCS) for patient encounters.
• Ensure adherence to coding standards, including those established by the AMA, CMS, and other regulatory authorities.
• Review medical records to gather relevant information for coding purposes.
• Maintain a high standard of accuracy and quality in coding assignments.
• Utilize coding software, encoders, and electronic health record systems effectively.
• Contribute to coding compliance initiatives by engaging in coding audits and both internal and external coding reviews.
• Keep precise records of coding activities.
• High School Diploma or Equivalent is required.
• An Associate's Degree in Medical Billing and Coding is preferred.
• Certification as a Professional Coder from the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) is preferred.
• 3-5 years of experience in medical coding within Primary Care, Endocrine, Geriatrics, Urgent Care, or Infectious Disease.
• Extensive knowledge of medical coding systems, including ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS.
• Familiarity with coding guidelines and regulations from the AMA, CMS, and other relevant organizations.
• Strong analytical abilities and meticulous attention to detail.
• Excellent understanding of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and disease processes.
