This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Tennessee.

📋 Description

• Conduct internal quality assessments for inpatient and outpatient coding across various Health Information Management Service Centers (HSCs).

• Review medical records to verify the accuracy, completeness, and compliance of coding with MS-DRG and national standards.

• Offer feedback, coaching, and documentation assistance to coders to enhance their performance and ensure consistency.

• Engage in special review projects and audits driven by policy initiatives.

• Maintain a productivity and accuracy rate of no less than 95%.

• Stay updated on coding knowledge by reviewing official data quality standards, coding guidelines, and policy changes.

• Assist in ensuring compliance with both internal and external requirements for data and reimbursement accuracy.


⛳️ Requirements

• An Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Health Information Management (HIM) or Health Information Technology (HIT) is preferred.

• A minimum of 10 years of experience in medical coding and at least 3 years of inpatient MS-DRG auditing in a hospital environment.

• Previous experience in quality review and coding compliance is required.

• RHIA and/or RHIT certification is mandatory.

• IP Coding Auditor certification for MS-DRG is necessary.

• In-depth knowledge of medical coding practices and standards is essential.

• Strong analytical and auditing abilities are required.

• Exceptional written communication skills and meticulous attention to detail are necessary.

• Proficiency in coding systems, data management tools, and remote audit platforms is needed.
