This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Missouri.
• Designs and oversees the implementation of coding educational programs.
• Ensures consistency and accuracy in coding and documentation practices.
• Serves as a point of contact for coding inquiries and issues among providers, coding staff, corporate responsibilities, and educational departments.
• Enhances clinical and financial outcomes through a comprehensive evaluation of provider documentation and coding proficiency, identifying areas for improvement.
• Creates and conducts training and educational sessions for all coding procedures.
• Remains informed about regulatory updates and collaborates with leadership to guarantee compliance and revenue integrity.
• Functions as a subject matter expert for providers and coders, offering guidance and clarification on daily account processing issues.
• Establishes and manages internal quality review processes along with corresponding training for providers and coders.
• Reviews provider documentation for clarity, completeness, and consistency to ensure optimal code selection.
• Educates providers on coding standards, practices, and documentation methods.
• Conducts audits of provider documentation to pinpoint opportunities or risks.
• Develops educational materials for providers based on findings and identified needs.
• Maintains open and consistent communication with coding and corporate responsibility regarding the education and guidance provided to both providers and coders.
• Performs additional duties as needed.
• Bachelor's degree in business, healthcare, or a related field, or equivalent years of experience and education.
• A minimum of three years of experience.
• Certified Coding Associate (CCA) - American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA).
• Certified Coding Specialist - Physician-based (CCS-P) - American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA).
• Certified Outpatient Coder (COC) - American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC).
• Certified Professional Coder (CPC®) - American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC).
• Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) - American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA).
• Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) - American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA).
